It was a great day in the morning of June 12!
Nearly 100 CHC supporters walked in the 2010 Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community in Bethlehem on June 12. Our loyal and energetic board members, volunteers, and staff recruited walkers and raised over $8,000 for the agency! (Board of Directors president Bob Thomson and his wife Joelle, and members of executive director Deb Geiger's family are setting off on the 5K walk in the picture on the right.)Before the Walk began, our tent was busy with the hubbub of walkers registering (including some folks who turned up that morning to walk for us)and walkers and visitors buying raffle tickets for our donated prizes: Zoellner concert tickets, a Phillies jersey, an hour-long massage at American Hairlines, Mary Kay cosmetics, handmade pottery, homemade gourmet cookies, two rounds of golf at Green Pond Country Club, a Spa Soleil haircut and candles, and a Red Robin gift card. Board member Abby Goldfarb's mother, a massage therapist, brought her massage chair and donated relaxing, refreshing neck massages. It was an exciting morning, and we are already looking forward to next year's Walk!
This was the first time CHC participated in the Walk, which Highmark has organized annually since 2005. Our thanks to Highmark, which takes care of all the logistics and advertising for the Walk so we can concentrate on recruiting walkers and fund raising. And thanks to everyone who worked and walked to make this such a great event for CHC.
