Don't Bet On It
This program guides students to an understanding of the risks and potential negative consequences of gambling. Students learn to analyze the influences that encourage or discourage gambling, and to understand the characteristics of different types of gamblers: social, problem, and compulsive. Additionally, students learn how to recognize the warning signs of problem and compulsive gambling, when and how to get help for a gambling problem, and comprehend the potential for addiction to gambling. Students will have the opportunity to assess their own level of risk and synthesize information to create a school media campaign informing peers of the dangers of gambling.
