The prescription drug and heroin epidemics are front-page news. However, nicotine, alcohol and marijuana are the drugs most often abused by adolescents, sometimes resulting in dire consequences. Participants in this program will learn about the science behind treating addiction as a brain disease; why the adolescent brain is more susceptible to the effects of drugs and alcohol; current trends in drug use in the Lehigh Valley; signs and symptoms of drug use; and how to access local resources.
