Disposing of Unused or Expired Medications:
Drop boxes have been installed at the locations below in the Greater Lehigh Valley. Proper disposal of expired and unused medications has several benefits. Flushing these substances can pollute the water supply. If medications are lingering in the home longer than necessary, there is an increased risk of misuse or abuse by adults and minors.
• Police Departments: Allentown, Catasauqua, Bethlehem, Coplay, Emmaus, Slatington, and Whitehall Township.
• Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest, outside of the pharmacy.
You can also dispose of these medications at home by mixing them in a baggie filled with wet coffee grounds or kitty litter, sealing the bag, and placing it in the trash.
