Meet the panelists:

David Hauser
Principal, Saucon Valley Middle School

Mr. Hauser previously served as a principal in the Northern Lehigh and Lehighton Area School Districts and spent ten years teaching English Language Arts at the middle and high school levels. In 2024, he led the Northern Lehigh Middle School SAP Team to PASAP’s statewide Most Distinguished Secondary SAP Team recognition.

Thespina L. Godshalk, MS, LPC
Administrator, School-Based Behavioral Health, Lehigh Valley Health Network–Jefferson

Thespina Godshalk, MS, LPC, is a licensed professional counselor with more than 25 years of experience supporting youth and families in community-based and acute inpatient settings. She earned her master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, specializing in Child and Adolescent Therapy, from Chestnut Hill College.

Before joining Lehigh Valley Health Network–Jefferson, Ms. Godshalk served as Director of a national mental health resource and crisis-support platform for youth. She is an experienced clinical educator with certifications in Safe Crisis Management, the Sanctuary Model of trauma-informed care, and Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and Expression (SOGIE).

Currently, Ms. Godshalk serves as Administrator of School-Based Behavioral Health for Lehigh Valley Health Network–Jefferson, overseeing outpatient therapy and supportive services for K–12 students throughout the Lehigh Valley and surrounding communities. She is a former Pool Fellow with the Leonard Parker Pool Institute for Health and is actively involved in initiatives promoting inclusive, trauma-informed care and community well-being.

Gretchen Hill
Assistant Administrator, Northampton County Drug and Alcohol Department

Gretchen Hill is a licensed social worker with a master’s degree from Maywood University. She has worked for Northampton County for 11 years, including the past four years with the Drug and Alcohol Division. Prior to her current role as Assistant Administrator, she served as a supervisor in the Area Agency on Aging Division.

In her current position, Ms. Hill oversees prevention programs, community outreach, Narcan trainings, and the development and implementation of new initiatives. Her background in social work, program management, and community services supports Northampton County’s efforts to address substance use and promote community health and awareness.

Gavin P. Holihan, Esq.
District Attorney Lehigh County

Gavin Holihan is the elected District Attorney of Lehigh County, having taken office in January 2024. Prior to that he practiced criminal defense in state and federal courts where he tried hundreds of cases. Additionally, he worked in the Juvenile delinquency and dependency system for over 20 years.

Kimberly F. Makoul, Esq.
Chief Public Defender, Lehigh County

Attorney Kimberly F. Makoul has dedicated her legal career to public service and advocating for individuals involved in the criminal and juvenile justice systems. A lifelong Lehigh County resident, she earned her bachelor’s degree from Moravian University in 1987 and her Juris Doctor from Widener University Delaware Law School in 1990.

After beginning her career as an Assistant Public Defender for Lehigh County, Attorney Makoul entered private practice in 1997, focusing on criminal and juvenile defense. She later served as an adjunct professor at Moravian University, teaching courses in civil liberties and constitutional law.

In 2014, she was appointed Lehigh County’s first full-time Chief Public Defender. Under her leadership, the office established its Pardon Project, becoming the first and only public defender’s office in Pennsylvania to establish such a program. The initiative helps eligible individuals pursue pardons and overcome barriers associated with past convictions.

Attorney Makoul is active in the legal community and serves on the boards of the Public Defender Association of Pennsylvania and the Lehigh County Bar Association. She is also a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Pennsylvania Bar Association.

Molly Stanton, MS
Assistant Administrator, Lehigh County Drug and Alcohol

Molly Stanton, MS, has extensive experience in the behavioral health and substance use treatment fields. Prior to joining Lehigh County, she held clinical and executive leadership positions in residential and outpatient treatment programs.

Ms. Stanton earned her B.S. in Psychology from Smith College and her M.S. in Psychology from Lehigh University. Her experience in clinical services and program leadership provides valuable perspective on substance use prevention, treatment, and recovery.

Nikolas V. Tsamoutalidis
Supervisor of Student Supports & Health Services, Bethlehem Area School District

Nikolas Tsamoutalidis has more than 30 years of experience educating and supporting youth and nearly three decades of experience as a K–12 public educator. He holds degrees in Special Education and Educational Leadership from Lehigh University, as well as a master’s degree in clinical counseling from Moravian University.

Mr. Tsamoutalidis is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Pastoral Counselor, and ICF Certified Executive Coach. He is also an SEL consultant and trainer in trauma-informed practices, restorative practices, QPR, and TBM. He serves as an adjunct professor at Moravian University.

Throughout his career, he has served in leadership roles at the middle and high school levels. In 2017, he co-led an initiative at Liberty High School to transform the school into a trauma-informed environment, including the development of a school-based Wellness Center. He previously served as Administrator of Student Supports & Wellness for the Bethlehem Area School District and currently serves as Supervisor of Student Supports & Health Services.

Mr. Tsamoutalidis is particularly passionate about helping current and future educators integrate hope, resilience, and wellness into their work with students.

Kristen Wenrich, MPH, CPH
Director of Health, City of Bethlehem

Kristen Wenrich, MPH, CPH, has more than 25 years of experience in public health. She has served as Director of Health for the City of Bethlehem since January 2023, where she leads efforts to address emerging public health challenges, develop health initiatives, and strengthen community partnerships.

Ms. Wenrich began her career with the Bethlehem Health Bureau in 1998 after earning her bachelor’s degree from East Stroudsburg University. She earned her Master of Public Health degree in 2004 and became certified in public health in 2008. Throughout her career, she has worked in maternal and child health, chronic disease prevention, emergency preparedness, communicable disease, and quality improvement.

She has presented at state and national conferences and contributed to nationally published articles on topics including childhood obesity, smoking cessation, hookah use, homelessness, mental health, quality improvement, and opioid prevention.

Join the Center for Humanistic Change (CHC) and our community partners for a panel discussion focused on contemporary issues impacting student health and well-being. Guided by Pennsylvania Youth Survey (PAYS) data, this diverse panel of community leaders will share their expertise and perspectives on current trends and discuss collaborative strategies to support a healthier future for our youth.
